Talk about computer software/hardware problems, related to digital video or otherwise.

You mentioned internal C: and D: drives in your notebook... is it 2 separate drives, or one drive with 2 partitions? If it's partitioned, that could be the cause of some of your performance issues.

If you do decide to upgrade to a bigger internal drive, the cost of a new 320GB 7200RPM notebook drive is about $89 these days, and Seagate just released a 500GB 7200RPM internal notebook drive for $139.

I know! As soon as the price comes down it's going into my laptop! Who needs a FireStore when you can record 36 hours of DV directly to your laptop!?

i have no idea! we got it built by hp a couple of years ago and if i knew then what i know now! though at the time we did get it almost everything maxed out, i know that i have an c and d that had 100gb each and then my internal e drive is just to recover and it is 10gb all used. i know my c says os and d says data.
