For Dell the XPS model is probably the place to start building http://www.dell.com/us/soho/p/xps-8500/pd?~ck=mn 1. Thinkpad W530 Laptop, Core i7-3820QM Processor 8M Cache 3.70 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, NVIDIA Quadro K1000M 2GB Memory.
2. Cybertron PC - Liquid Cooled AMD FX6300, 6 cores, 3.50ghz - 32GB DDR3 - MSI GeForce GTX 960 Gaming 4G, 4GB Video Ram, 1024 Cuda Cores.
Re: Recommended System Specs for Video Editingalso, don't forget about the Dell Outlet
http://www.dell.com/outlet Lots of really great deals on scratch and dent, refurbished and customer returns. I have purchased 3 computers from the Outlet and all have been excellent deals and are running great. Muvipix doesn't have an affiliation with the Dell Outlet but our main goal is that everyone gets the best deal on what they need 1. Re: Recommended System Specs for Video EditingJack: Have located a refurbished HP P7-1200 with i5-2400/3.1 GHz; 8GB DDR3(max); chipset Intel H61 Exp; Intel HD2000 graphics controller. 1 TB 7200 sata and would add 128 ssd. Don't know if processor and mother board are sufficient and also 8GB mem enough. Also would I need separate GPU?
Would appreciate any thoughts, Dave Dell XPS 8500, i7-3770, 8GB DDR3 1600MHz, Samsung 8300 SSD 256GB, 2TB 7200 SATA HDD, AMD Radeon HD 7570, Win7 HP
Re: Recommended System Specs for Video EditingThat system should be just fine for PRE/PSE 11 & standard-definition video. The hardware is coming up on 2 years old, so I'd expect to pay around $500 for that system as you listed it.
The HD 2000 graphics supports multiple monitors, but if you plan to use multiple monitors you'll probably need to add in a separate video card for decent playback. ASRock Z77 Pro4, Xeon E3-1230 V2, Windows 7 64-bit, 32GB RAM, 3GB GTX 660 ti, 240GB SSD for OS/programs, 3x640GB in RAID0 for projects
Panasonic GH2; Adobe Creative Cloud http://www.CMDStar.com http://www.FamilyTreePhotography.co
Re: Recommended System Specs for Video EditingThanks, Jack. Any suggestions on the video card? Also, I would probably need a bigger power supply as this only has 300W.
