What about Final Cut Express section for us Mac users?Any chance? I read at the Adobe forums that it is very similar to PE
Hi Dee Dee,
We do have a forum called 'Video Editors' that covers programs other than Premiere Elements. But I think Ron could add a Final Cut Express forum and we will see how it goes. I don't know if there are many people here that know much about it but we can give it a shot. Final Cut Express is pretty much the Premiere Elements of the MAC world so it makes sense. If you wouldn't mind adding the 'Final Cut Express' forum that would be great Ron - Thanks! 1. Great! Because I do think I am going to pick up Final Cut Express. I found a good deal on it and Amazon itself has it for significantly less than the $299 list price.
Maybe you can become the resident expert Dee Dee

Hi Dee Dee Warren,
Excuse me coming in here a bit late but the recent announcement concerning iLife '08 (and your posting concerning Too Much Too Soon) got me thinking about hassle free computing again... May I ask which Mac you have? I'm thinking about the 15" MacBook Pro - any thoughts? If you were to be buying today, which would you be tempted to go for if budget wasn't too important? Did you ever try iMovie or, based on your knowledge of PE3, maybe you decided that Final Cut was easier to get into? I much appreciate your sharing any opinions you might have Brian. 24" iMac. 17" MBP. FCPX and a little bit of Premiere Pro. Nine recent Panasonic HD camcorders. Many (but never enough) terabytes of external storage...
Hi Brian, I have a MacPro. I was in the market for a desktop at the time. I would very readily get a MacBook though and hope to get one in the future.
I went with Final Cut Express due to advice that it is the most similar to Premiere Elements so that my learning curve would be cut down. Now that I have my Mac, though I can run Windows through virtualization, I just love the Mac so much that I am loathe to use Windows, though I do at times. I am very much into computing life, and the Mac world isn't just a computer, it is a computing lifestyle.... so yeah, I have been sucked into the Mac cult.
I have a few more years of life in both my Dell desktop and my two year old Toshiba laptop but the latter weighs 4.5 kgs whereas the 15" MacBook Pro is apparently less than half that. I'll try to wait until year end but I certainly feel myself being tugged by the Mac cult

Re: What about Final Cut Express section for us Mac users?Hi guys, I am still around and still no further in my projects. I did get my new little HP laptop for work though. It is very nice, but I am not too happy with Vista, wish I had XP on it. I have a really good rant against HP customer support as well - in order to get a question answered on compatible HP hardware, they wanted to send me to "HP Friends" and charge me $60!!!! I hate to say but I lost my temper.
Re: What about Final Cut Express section for us Mac users?Glad to hear you are hanging in there Dee Dee.
I would have lost my temper as well, the HP people sound like they needed a good slap in the face. Have people forgotten how to treat customers these days? 1. Thinkpad W530 Laptop, Core i7-3820QM Processor 8M Cache 3.70 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, NVIDIA Quadro K1000M 2GB Memory.

Re: What about Final Cut Express section for us Mac users? It was just so frustrating and not to my credit, I tend to lose my temper when frustrated. Or cry.
Re: What about Final Cut Express section for us Mac users?Apple has released the newest version of Final Cut Express which is $100 cheaper than before bringing it closer to Premiere Elements in price - but still twice as much, but that is better than three times as much.
Re: What about Final Cut Express section for us Mac users?I have FINALLY finished the Premiere Elements project I was working on - my "24" action clip video. So now I am armed with a VisualBasic book on FinalCut Express and am going to delve into it. I have gotten so far as to open the program - in some ways it looks very similar to PE3 but in other ways scarily different. I will keep you guys posted. I am considering when I have some funds to maybe bite the bullet and get Premiere Pro for the Mac - we shall see, it could just be the new program jitters. Apple ships a tutorial video with the program, so I will check that out first.
Re: What about Final Cut Express section for us Mac users? Thanks for reporting back Dee Dee, glad to hear you completed your project.
