Re: New iMacs and MacMini
Thanks Steve for your kind words. Yes, a beggar like me now find that Ramen noodles is tasty, in fact Ramen noodles is a luxury. Yes, I will lookout for the sale of Final Cut Express 4. But I shall now do iMovie first. My system comes with iMovie 09 but I gotta find the old iMovie 08 from the Apple website. Thanks again, Steve. FYI, I am typing this off my iMac & the screen is ridiculously huge !
Re: New iMacs and MacMini

Re: New iMacs and MacMini
Hahahaha. On a serious note, I think I need serious help. My main purpose of buying this Mac system is to use iMovie 06 (& final cut). Previously, when iMovie 08 is out, Apple allow users to download iMovie 06 for free (NB: iMovie 08 is totally different program all together from iMovie 06). But what I didn't know (which I just discovered) is that Apple has stop giving free & also stop selling. I went to ebay to look for it but no one is selling. I am very frustated now bcos after buying an iMac I found myself not able to use iMovie 06. ... sigh .... Anyone knows how I can get hold of iMovie 06 ? Thanks
Re: New iMacs and MacMiniI always thought that iMovie came preinstalled free with every MAC
Just like Windows Movie Maker comes with every Windows PC for free. 1. Thinkpad W530 Laptop, Core i7-3820QM Processor 8M Cache 3.70 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, NVIDIA Quadro K1000M 2GB Memory.

Re: New iMacs and MacMiniNope. They stopped giving away the iLife Suite last year. But it does come bundled with iMacs.
And sorry, Ryan. I'm not sure where you're going to get an old version -- and, if you do, if it will even run on Leopard. (Mac OSes are very picky.) Besides, the latest iMovie is very nice! Why retro-grade? HP Envy with 2.9/4.4 ghz i7-10700 and 16 gig of RAM running Windows 11 Pro
Re: New iMacs and MacMini
Yes Chuck, you are correct. My iMac comes pre-installed with iMovie08 as well as a iLife09 disc. When the salesman opened up the box, he took the disc upgraded my iMovie08 (which is preinstalled) to iMovie09. But my problem is I want the older version iMovie 06.
Re: New iMacs and MacMini
Hi Steve, The reason I want the iMovie 06 is because iMovie 06 is totally a different program altogether from iMovie08. When Apple introduced iMovie08, a lot of users were angry that iMovie08 was so bad (as compared to iMovie06) that Apple gave a free download of iMovie06 online to all registered iMovie08 users. What I did not realize was that Apple stopped this when iMovie09 was shipped out. I have also bought books on iMovie06 ready & raring to go ... but alas ..... Maybe I go & try the iMovie09, "though iMovie09 is supposed to have improved much over iMovie08 but nevertheless no way near the perfect program iMove06" ... sigh ... (NB: the sentence in quote, I read in from somewhere)
Re: New iMacs and MacMiniJust to update you guys, I have managed to purchase a copy of iLfe06 which includes iMovie HD6.
I am now trying to find answers in the Apple forum as to whether iMovie HD6 can be installed together with iMovie09. If anyone has the answer, pls keep me posted. Thank you.
Re: New iMacs and MacMiniHi there
I've been running final cut studio 2 on a macbook 4.1 (intel GMA X3100 , 2.5G Ram, 2.1Ghz, Cinema display) for about a year now I use it for doing budget TV commercials and corporate videos. I create clips using Motion (of food products and prices flying around) and then assemble the Ad in Final Cut. I do the Voice Overs and Music in Logic Pro 8. Everything "runs" but i have experienced a few issues 1. Its terribly painful to work on (very slow. I have to render clips to audition them (if they have FX factory plugins) 2. I sometimes get strange small short black lines (glitches) in exported motion mov's which require me to render a second time. 3. Motion does crash. but it is a seldom occurrence. 4. final cut is great, I've done 10 min Corporate Videos with lots of transitions and effects. For DVD usage i Either render out using DV PAL or a DVD compression using compressor. the macbook really does a great job considering i have. Compressor, Final Cut Pro, Firefox, Itunes, Logic Pro 8, Mail, Motion, Skype and Finder all running most of the time. i am getting a mac mini soon with the 9400m chip so i will post my contrasting experience shortly. Hopefully Apples "up to 5 times faster" statement lives up to its claim. Chow or now
