Song with a strong beat to it

Postby katet » Wed Jul 18, 2007 7:09 pm

Hello!

I am working on a video and I need help with a music selection. We are on a beach and the waves are crashing into a young boy and he keeps falling over. What I would like to do is find a song with a heavy beat so that every time there is a beat a wave crashes into him. I was originally thinking wipeout, but it doesn't really have a strong beat to it. An example of the type of strong beat that I was thinking of would be from the beginning of Eye of a Tiger, but I would like to try and find something with the beat throughout the song instead of just at the beginning.

Thank you for your help!

I'm all about the music and would love to help. Does is matter what the song is about, what genre, etc. Does is need to be clean for children? Here are some intila suggestions, not knowing the answers.

I have a suggestion which also might work lyrically if you are open to loose literallness... anyway the song is
This is how a heart breaks - Rob Thomas

You might try listening to Paul Oakenfold - his stuff has a a lot of heavy beats.

Higher Ground - Red Hot Chili Peppers
Lets Get It Started - Black Eyed Peas
Pump It- Black Eyed Peas
Mama Said Knoock You Out -LL Cool J
Happy Editing,

It's always hard to give suggestions when you don't know the tempo of a video. You could try

Another One Bites the Dust
I Can't Dance by Genesis. (I would check out Genesis and Phil Collins because a lot of those songs have a heavy drum beat)
Get On Your Feet by Gloria Estefen
Dell XPS410 Duo Core, 4GB RAM, 2 360 gig hard drives, 1 500 gig external hard drive

Thank you for all the suggestions. The song doesn't have to be about a specific topic, there doesn't even have to be words. As far as lyrics go, they need to be relatively clean. As far as the beat goes, I haven't edited down the video yet so that I will be able to work with the beat that the song is - or, as of now, the beat of the song doesn't matter as long as it has one. I believe that answers all of you questions. I will give the song suggestions a listen this evening. Again, thank you all so much!

Though it's the opposite of the backbeat you're looking for "Sea of Love" would be a very funny counterpoint to the action.

How about
Walk this way by Run - DMC
Lets dance by Chris Montez
Another good one would be (Airscape Remix) it's a long song but you could cut what you needed out of it.

If you use Bang a Gong you've got to use the T.Rex original :!:

Ah, he wanted a "heavy beat". I wasn't undermining T-Rex's original (far from a "heavy beat") :razz:

I wouldn't even dream of suggesting a particular piece of music for your video, but it should be remembered that if you find a track with a beat which is close to the timing of the subject falling down (sob! I know what that feels like!) in the surf, you can always slow down or speed up the video slightly to get it into sync. If the alteration is only slight, no-one will notice and you will have the beat of the music EXACTLY in sync with the action.
BTW, I use "ThanksMuch.com", "Freeplay Music", "Mp3Realm Music Search" and "Flash Developers resources" quite a lot for my sound tracks, especially Freeplay Music. There's plenty of free music which, if you acknowledge the source of the tracks, can be used in your videos.
All the best, and hope you find something exactly right,
Bill

I know what you meant Ron, but the cover can't stand up to the original imo.

As for freeplaymusic, I like to use it but when I look at the license terms it makes it seem that you have to pay for rights to the music for personal non-commercial use.

If you are using Freeplay Music for:

...
(10) Internet - Website Use (to promote a business, product, service or club);
(11) Personal Website Use (Non-Commercial);
...
(14) Podcasting;
(15) Film Festivals / Competitions;
(16) Religious Use (most); or
(17) Non-Profit (most)

Then Freeplay Music requires a signed license agreement and a license fee payment as described in the Freeplay Music Rate Card [link].

What is everyone elses take on it?
