When music makes the video, discuss and recommend soundtracks for specific themes/subjects.

For those members who are not aware, Chuck has put a link to http://www.Shockwave-Sound.com in the Music Forum. For those of you who, like me, use music in your work, http://www.Shockwave-Sound.com is a valubalbe resource. A full-length track goes for about $30--and the purchaser gets to download a PDF document which specifies that s/he may legally make up to 5,000 copies of each song for whatever commercial use, including putting it on, say, a DVD for a customer's slide show or video. But here's the part I most wanted to bring to the attention to the members. There are also a number of "collections" on the site that go for $99. For example, I purchased "The Edge I" for $99 for immediate download + $10 to have the CD mailed to me. In addition, I paid another $10 or so to download a number of very useful sound effects, including a key going into a lock followed by the opening of a creaky dor, a flare gun being fired, plus a few more. The download and CD for "The Edge I" contain 10 full tracks, at least 3 of which I would have paid $31.95 for, so that makes the package a good deal. In addition to the 10 full tracks, each track is further broken down into 3-5 "loops," for a total of over 40. There was one song for which I only liked one of the four loops, so I played that one loop repeatedly in a recent DVD. Using PSE4.0, it was "a snap" ( ) to put together a slide show that contained 2 slides/transitions per 38 second loop. With regard to the hundreds of sound effects, the individual prices are $2-$3, however, once again there are package deals that go for, for example, about $30 for dozens of effects. All that the site offers is available for sample listening, however, be prepared for some rather annoying, and repetitious, voices that almost continually remind the listener that s/he is hearing only to a sample from shockwave sound com.

I make all my music with Band In A Box and can't say enough for it. Hugely versatile, any kind of music you can imagine can be created from various styles, any key you want, any instrumentation, any tempo.

In return for one's email address, Shockwave offers muvipx members a complimentary package of tracks, loops and special effects--the total value of which is MORE THAN A 1-YEAR MUVIPIX SUBSCRPTION. (The Nitro Glycerin track alone is about $30.)

George,
Very good source, indeed. It looks like some of this can bridge the gap in my SmartSound library. I also like their preview player, better than SmartSound's, which does a quick medley from any collection, with no indication as to exactly which cut is playing. Thanks for sharing this site. It is now bookmarked.
To your last comment in the above reply. I did not see an area/page for Muvipix members. Do you recall the navigation to that? Is that just the newsletter "Subscribe" button?
Appreciated,
Hunt

In the previous incarnation of muvipix there was a link to shockwave.sound on the Music page, but I cannot see the link in the present incarnation. You may be able to get help with this at info@shockwave-sound.com

Thanks guys. Now I know why I could not find it. Still, a good site and resource for extra music. Now, if someone will just front me the $25k for their "mega collection!" Have not added up my SmartSound bills, but I may be pushing it - well, not quite, though, now I am sad that I did not spring for their "Producer's Bundle," back when I got my first SonicFire edition. Still, most of their titles have been purchased, when on "sale."

Is that a program that allows you to create your own electronic music? Please provide more details.

Charles, which pak did you get when you bought Band in a Box? Did you get the "Pro" version or one of the versions that come with more Paks? George, see this site http://www.pgmusic.com/ for more info. They also have some videos that demo some of the features.

Hi Ron, Is Band in a Box what you use to create your music? Is there a steep learning curve if one wishes to create music of the quality that can be purchased on http://www.shockwave-sound.com ?

I use Magix Music Maker software. It's not really difficult to use but it is tedious and time consuming. I'm no master at it, but i know enough to be dangerous as they say.
