Canon Vixia HF M31

When I try to merge the 11 min. clips created by this camcorder in PE7 the merge does not go smoothly. Is this a defective camcorder or just the "nature of the beast"? I have to use a cross dissolve transition to try to make things better. Any ideas? I have not used the movie software that came with this camcorder and I will see if that makes any difference.

I'm not sure what you mean by "merge" , 357. What exactly are you doing, step by step?

This camcorder shoots in a variety of formats and quality levels. Which are you shooting in? And which settings did you select when you created your Premiere Elements project?

I would recommend only in FXP and MXP mode using 60i fps, if you plan to edit in Premiere Elements. Then make sure you set up your project as a 1920x1080 AVCHD. You must also ensure that the audio for your project matches the video you've shot. (This cam shoots in both stereo and 5.1 audio, so ensure that you match what you shot.) The other video formats (XP, SP and LP) may not work with Premiere Elements.

And did you download the video from the camcorder to your computer using Premiere Elements Get Media/From AVCHD too (The Media Downloader)?

Also what operating system are you using? Have you ensured you have all of the updates (including non-critical) and the latest version of Windows? And how fast is your processor?

All of this is very important if you want to successfully work with AVCHD.

Steve....this camcorder records in separate clips 11:20 long. You have to 'connect" the clips to make a movie. I used the Canon software to join the clips and that went perfectly. So.... somehow something went wrong when I imported the video into PE7. I checked another video I am working on and it is fine in PE7. Just a glitch! I am glad the camcorder appears ok!
