HDV Split problems

Postby momoffduty » Wed Apr 21, 2010 1:55 pm

I used HDV Split with my HV30 no problems a few months ago. Now, the program keeps getting an error and has to close. I've tried about 40 times and no luck. Any ideas? Thanks.

Info:
Recorded in HDV and have output the same
Using a firewire
HDV Split does recognize the camcorder
Preview screen - sometimes the video shows up and other tries no

Different errors:
A generic has to close error - most of the errors
Does not recognize the file type error - this one 2x
Edit:
Another error: Capturing has been started
INFO: No more data is received from camcoder. Capture stopped.
End of capturing
It is in the middle of a scene. Captured for about 2 seconds and then this error.

Hrmmm, didn't have anything like this during all the years I used the program. I don't have an HDV camcorder anymore, but if I remember correctly, the program runs from a standalone executable, ie, nothing to install? If that is not the case, then have you tried reinstalling?
I wish I were creative enough to write something witty here.

I spent 2 1/2 hours this morning trying to get this to work and another 1 hour this afternoon. Right after I posted this I tried a few more times and the last time forgot to check the preview window and IT WORKS now.

For some reason I cannot use the HDV split preview window, but that is okay I just use the camcorder's viewer.

Hopefully this will save someone else time. Thanks tiny for trying to help...a reinstall was my next step.

I've never been able to use the preview window, not even the smallest -- but have also been satisfied with just the camcorder screen.

Assume you're still using XP or Vista? There's some pretty common issues capturing (regardless of the software) in Windows 7.

The preview can be a little flaky sometimes. I remember it not working sometimes too but have it working on 3 XP machines now including my laptop.

Maybe it has something to do with when the camcorder is connected? Try connecting the camcorder after you start HDVSplit, or before you start it, see if that makes a difference.

I find that it blanks out on me after I move forward and backwards several times trying to find the exact place I'm looking for. If I just go directly to the right spot and start capturing, it's fine. And all this time I thought it was just me. ;)

No, not just you. I have to close the program and then start it up again sometimes when the preview freezes.
It doesn't like FFW or Reverse much. If you put in a tape and start capturing from the beginning it's fine, just don't play around with it much.
