Sony HDR-XR500V

Postby John Callahan » Sun May 31, 2009 7:54 am

Hello,

Can I record sound from a handheld battery FM radio and record video at the same time with the Sony HDR-XR500V.

Sony site:
Active Interface Shoe: The Active Interface Shoe lets you mount Intelligent Accessories, such as external lights and microphones, which can help extend the capabilities of your camcorder.

John, the camcorder has a built in microphone so if you put the radio close enough that will pick it up.
You could get another mic that would connect to the shoe but don't know what good that would do.
I'm not familiar with all of the accessories, maybe there is a way to go from the radio to the camcorder if the radio has a headphone jack.

Thanks again Chuck,

Can someone give me suggestions on a Higher-Grade Wide Conversion Lens for my Sony HDR-XR500V and what do you think about the Tele Conversion Lens?
Sony offers the wide lenz VCL-HGA07 $199

It really depends on how much you want to spend, John.

Insta-Wide lenses that clip onto your camcorder's current lens can be had for under $20.

I have the Sony VCL-0637H wide adaptor :-D . Certainly is very useful to have and I now wouldn't be without it. I decided to get the Sony rather than a third party product. I bought it on eBay for US$50, including delivery.

There's a discussion in this thread:
