HF10I bought a new camcorder. I took the risk and went for the AVCHD flash format. My old camera was a Sony TRV-730, one of the largest D8 cameras Sony made. This camcorder is a lot lot smaller. It will be great on vacations and such. I have not had a chance to use it much, but so far the results have be mixed. This is my first experience with HD of any sorts, so I have lots to learn. On my computer, the sound and video look great. PrEl 7 does a good job of previewing the movie in the AVCHD format. Export times are all over the place depending on the type of file I export to. Flash files look great. Down scaling to DV-AVI looked ok but the DVD compliant MPEG2 had some video jumps in it. The H.264 export did not work on my daughters Touch iPod nor play well in quicktime. I do not have a BD burner, so I was not able to test that. So far I really like the camcorder. The software that came with it appears to be really weak, but has some funtionality. Hopefully I will be able to figure out a workflow to get great looking DVDs from PrEl. If anyone else has the camcorder or works with AVCHD files in, let me know what work flow you use and any tricks you have learned.
Re: HF10Hi Ronnie, If you do a forum search for 'AVCHD' you will find tons of information.
Like this one viewtopic.php?f=12&t=4843 I'm sure that Paul gets tired of writing the same things over and over again. If you have any specific questions there are a few people here that can answer them. You will definitely want to include your computer specs in any post regarding AVCHD editing 1.
