Mic for Canon Elura 100

Postby kaydawgy » Sat Apr 07, 2007 5:42 pm

Hey guys. I was wondering if anybody has ever heard of sticking a shotgun microphone underneath the camcorder where you usually screw it in to the tripod. I figured that would be better than having a big old L- bracket especially when the Elura is very tiny. Any suggestions on how I can go about doing this? And if so, what type of mic should I use. I know it has to be self powered.

Chuck, what about mounting the microphone underneath the camcorder where the tripod is supposed to screw in? Has anyone done that?

I don't know, most of the stuff like that is done for the pro DV cams and they are a lot bigger than a miniDV. I will check the B&H catalog later and see if I can find anything, if it exists they will have it.

I don't know about mounting underneath the camera on the tripod. I certainly haven't seen anything at B&H that would allow that. I too have an Elura 100. I love it because of the quality and the mic input and hate that it doesn't have a flash shoe. I recently got a very nice L bracket that supposedly was made for the Sony TRV900 and it works very well. It's not a large as the so called MiniWonderCam brackets and it has two shoes -- one on top and one on the side -- so I have some options.

Maybe you should make something that does what you want. Then you could patent it and have a product to offer other camcorder users. If not I think you'll have to stick with an L bracket.

I haven't been able to find anything either but I bet you could find the stuff to make your own at Radio Shack :)
