Voice on phoneIn PE 3, how can one make a stand alone voice audio file sound like the voice is on the phone? None of the audio effects seem to apply. Thanks, C.

Re: Voice on phoneHave you tried Audacity?
One thing you will want to do is save the file with as low a quality as possible. 1. Thinkpad W530 Laptop, Core i7-3820QM Processor 8M Cache 3.70 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, NVIDIA Quadro K1000M 2GB Memory.
2. Cybertron PC - Liquid Cooled AMD FX6300, 6 cores, 3.50ghz - 32GB DDR3 - MSI GeForce GTX 960 Gaming 4G, 4GB Video Ram, 1024 Cuda Cores.
Re: Voice on phoneTry using the Highpass filter and set the frequency to, I don't know, say 900 Hz for starters.
Re: Voice on phoneOr try this, Lowpass filter set to 2500 Hz, then below that use Highpass filter set to 984 Hz.
Anyway, I think some combination of the Highpass, Lowpass, or Notch filter will do it.
Re: Voice on phoneI found the telephone/receiver preset in the FFT filters in Adobe Audition and listened to what it sounded like. I can get Premiere Elements to come very close using these filters and settings in the order given:
Clip Volume: 6.0 dB Lowpass: 2140 Hz Highpass: 860.9 Hz Notch: 202.5 Hz, Q=0.2 I quit experimenting when I got real close.
Re: Voice on phoneOld telephone circuits had a frequency of response that was flat from 300Hz to 3400Hz with frequencies outside this range being attenuated. I have just taken "O flower of Scotland" (OK, I'm a rugby fan - but not Scottish) and used a Low Pass (3400Hz) & High Pass Filter (300Hz) and it does produce the desired effect.
Hope this helps Gerry
Re: Voice on phoneThose frequencies are similar to the frequencies used in the Telephone/Receiver FFT preset in Audition. But if I use those frequencies with the low and high pass filters in Premiere Elements, I don't get the same effect, mainly because in Audition the volume of the frequencies in the lower end from 300 - 1500 Hz are much reduced compared to the 100% frequencies from about 1500 - 3250 Hz.
Re: Voice on phoneYou can also add the Bass and Treble effects and adjust their setting to attenuate the low & high frequencies left between the low pass and high pass filter settings. All becomes very subjective, then you have to take into account the loudspeakers that are being used, these affect the final quality of what you hear. Not to mention your own hearing!

Re: Voice on phoneRJ, the settings you gave will work fine for my uses. Many thanks! Charles

Re: Voice on phoneNot many places where you would get this many responses to your question Charles.
Probably more than you wanted to know about making your audio sound like it's coming through a telephone Gotta love it here! 1. Thinkpad W530 Laptop, Core i7-3820QM Processor 8M Cache 3.70 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, NVIDIA Quadro K1000M 2GB Memory.
