When performing complicated or lengthy editing on a PRE/PE Timeline, one may note that playback has become "buggy" at the sasme time that PF Usage has soared.
Sometimes, merely performing a Save As will lower the PFUsage, however, my experience is that a more reliable technique is as follows: --open whatever software you use for performing incremental backups of your main drive (I use SmartSyncPro) --click the icon to perform the backup
I have no idea why this works, but with my system my PF Usage typically instantly drops by about 0.5GB, for example, just now it dropped from about 2.1GB to about 1.6GB and playback was no longer "buggy."

That's an interesting tip, George -- though it sort of defies explanation.
Another common trick is to temporarily minimize Premiere Elements and then maximize it again. I've seen page file drops of close to a gigabyte with this trick.

That's an even better tip, Steve. I'll try it later today. Thanks! (Love the sit'e new capability for Smilies)

Steve, did you mean 1.0 or 0.1GB? With my system, I'm seeing only 0.1GB difference by minimizing. (Love the new smilies--is it legal to also use them other than here on muvipix? If so, how do I place them in other documents?)

Maybe I should have just said "lots" instead of a specific number. I do have a tendency to exaggerate.
But, particularly if you've been working a while and your memory seems to be leaking away, this can refresh things.

In most cases you can just right click on the smilie and then select copy, then paste it anywhere It won't always work that way but give it a try. Be sure to do Save Image As or Copy Image, not Copy Image Location
