Finding Additional Graphics and Clips

Postby Chuck Engels » Wed Nov 25, 2009 11:42 am

There are many graphics, video clips and media elements available in Premiere Elements.
Some of the locations for these elements have changed in version 8.

I recently started using many of the Theme elements in my videos. There are great intro and outro clips, music, graphics and tons of stuff you can use. You don't have to create an instant movie to use these elements in your movie. Most recently I used the Memory Box intro and outro from the Memory Box theme. I added the Old Film effect to the clip and it turned out to be amazing.

Here is where you can find many additional elements and assets you can use in your projects :)

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Elements 8.0\Movie Themes
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Elements 8.0\Clip Arts
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Elements 8.0\DVD Templates\Common
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Elements 8.0\Presets\Logos

Check out all of the clips, music, graphics and other elements available to you. It's amazing how much stuff is there that can be very useful in your video projects.

Happy Editing :)

I know this thread is already a couple of month old, but I have a question for you Chuck ( or anyone how can answer this question ). I started using those additional graphics and clips too and I think they come in very handy to spice-up a video.
I especially like the animated graphics that have a .swf extension. The only problem is, there is no thumbnail preview, just a generic icon, and this makes it difficult to load the right one.
Did you come up with a way to get a preview of those files? I searched for a utility online and actually found one, but it will not work with Windows7.

I use Adobe Bridge and although there isn't a thumbnail you can see a preview.

I use Bridge also.

You could try the free Irfanview and see if that will do the job for you. Irfanview includes a thumbnail viewer that can be brought up as a separate program (or from the menu in Irfanview whichever you prefer). You'll need to download and install the optional plugin package to view the swf files. Irfanview Thumbnail viewer will display the thumbnails of your image files but the audio and video files will have a generic icon which you can click on to preview/play.

Thank you Chuck and Bob. I have Bridge, I will give that a try and I also look into Irfanview. I downloaded a .swf player that will play the animated graphic clips. But it would be nice to see a preview when you actually want to load the file into PE. I found a SWF Thumbs generator here:http://www.snapfiles.com/get/swflive.html, but it will not install on my system.

Bridge will work great for you Gerlinde :)
You can drag files right from Bridge into the Premiere Elements Media Panel, Organizer or Timeline. I almost always have Bridge and Premiere Elements open at the same time and use Bridge when adding media to my projects. It's even easier with Bridge and Premiere Pro.

Since you have Bridge, I agree with Chuck. That would be the best solution. Chuck makes a good point with the drag-and-drop capability. That's what I do too. Irfanview Thumbnails doesn't support drag-and-drop as far as I know.

Bridge together with drag-and-drop works great! :yh: Thanks a lot for this tip. Now I have to figure out, how to make my own animations to expand the available content even more. :-k
