Crawling Text

Use the titler to add photos by using the add logo button. Made in PrEl3, hopefully it is the same in other versions. The advantage to this is no keyframing if you want the photos to move across the screen. And the advantage is they are moving at the same pace.

Caution, the titler is finicky so save often as you work. If the program crashes just reopen and do a save as and rename the project to be safe. May want to create the segment in a practice file and then import into your project. Can also add a motion background on a track below the title.

Steve, Remember when you did the annual video and you had the Draggin the Line theme at the beginning?
You had trouble spacing the images, Beth had a similar problem a few years ago.
The images would catch up to each other, wouldn't stay the same distance apart without lots of work.
This would totally solve that problem :)

Very true, Chuck!

(By the way, that video sequence was created using Vegas MovieStudio, which hasn't got nearly as sophisticated a keyframing system as Premiere Elements. I'm sure I could do it much better in PrEl!)

Here's that sequence, if anyone is interested.

Very cool Steve, draggin the line. Too bad the titler's add logo will not take video. I have keyframed photos & video moving like your video and it is a lot of work. If anyone is interested in the keyframe way: On the first clip/pic set your keyframes. Copy & past those to the next clip/pic. Repeat. The biggest step is to stagger those clips/pics on the timeline with equal frames. Example: First clip/pic then count out frames say 5 then that is the start of the 2nd clip/pic. Count out 5 frames and that is the start of the 3rd clip/pic.

In Pro there is the velocity graph that helps to know they are all traveling at the same rate of speed, but even then it is difficult. With my graduation book video the 2 sides of the book at the end were keyframed to move together. Lots of work and frustration.

Now in AE, very simple just move the camera. :)

I created a very cool effect in After Effects last night, using the 3D camera. I lined up my video clips and then flew in and around them!

Its' amazing what that program can do! Now if I can only get as good at coming up with cool designs as I'm getting at just driving it.

Thanks Theresa & Chuck. Steve, Ae is amazing. I really love 3D space now. At first it was very frustrating.

:CS: I do joke with my husband that I want to turn our house into a video editing bed & breakfast. Of course I can't be making home cooked meals, pies etc while editing.

Hi Cheryl,

thanks for this wonderful tip. :TU:
This morning I experimented a lit and it works very fine.

Do you if there is a way to duplicate a completed title? Using "duplicate" creates a new title, but title-length and crawling option gets lost.

Any hints for a workaround?

Thanks a lot!

Hi Vera, not sure right offhand. :-k If you want to save your title as a file the export>Movie>dvi, but can't make any changes. Maybe someone else has a solution.

File/Export/Title Vera, that will get you an exact duplicate that you can import into your project.
Also, if you choose Duplicate and then copy and paste the attributes from the original should work also.
At least if I understand what you are trying to do that should help.
