Word Flip

Postby kabbie » Fri Oct 16, 2009 10:45 pm

I want to make the word "LEON" appear to flip horizontally and become "NOEL". I'm new at this and can't figure out how to get the effect I want. I've created two title clips -- one with each version of the word. Then I applied a flip transition and I get almost the effect that I want except that the entire screen rather than just the word appears to flip, and for a moment my screen is gray at the middle of the transition. I'm using PE7. Can anyone help me out?

Probably the only way to do it is the way you are, unless you want to get really complicated and flip the word then rotate each letter individually, as otherwise the N,E and L would be reversed.

Welcome to Muvipix!

I don't care for the flip transition for the very reason you cite -- the gray background as the flip occurs. You can change the background color, but you don't get transparency.

Try the "card flip" transition instead. Apply the transition to center at cut, then click on the properties button (or right click on the transition in the timeline) and adjust the settings. There will be a "custom" button near the bottom of the card flip properties, click that. Change the rows and columns to 1 and change the axis to vertical or horizontal, depending on how you want the flip to occur, and click ok. You'll get a flip with transparency.
