Lighting Tutorials

Postby Don Whitten » Thu Nov 22, 2007 8:26 am

As I am reviewing different lighting kits, I thought I had better learn the basics of setting up the darn things. I ran across this site from another forum over at Sony and thought I would share it. It is laid out well enough to grasp the basics of lighting.

Hi,

Thought I'd come on in here and see what was going on. I spent many years in the film/video business mainly as a Gaffer (Chief lighting technician) but also some sound work. Free lancing you had to do it all down here in Florida. Had to quit the business b/c the body was getting to old to do all the manual labor associated with it. Now I'm finishing out my working career in another trade. Maybe that's whats tweaked my yearning to learn/play with this editing stuff- lots of fun so far.

If I can be of any assistance I'd be happy to try.

All the best,
Jay

And, of course, basic principles of 3-point lighting is the subject of this month's Steve's Film School article! ;)
