Removing my "negative" commentary

Postby tjodork » Tue Feb 12, 2008 1:16 pm

Hi.... So I've been taping my sons basketball game and of course I can't keep my mouth shut...so I end up having my voice on the tape with negative comments like "ahhhh why did he throw the ball away....,etc,etc".....I'd like to pass the video on without the negative comments.
What I need to do is learn to shut up....but of course its already taped. I'm looking for the best way to deal with this
Ideas I had were
1) some kind of filter....Is there any good filters for voice ?
2) copy some audio from a different time and paste over my voice...tried that and seemed out of place
3) add a sound of someone blowing the whisle
4) reduce volume at that point but it stands out that the sound disappears
5) remove all sound...simple choice but does lose a lot of whats going on

Anyone else have to deal with that and have some good ideas ? As always ....thanks very much

Number 2 should work, did you use an audio transition?
1. Thinkpad W530 Laptop, Core i7-3820QM Processor 8M Cache 3.70 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, NVIDIA Quadro K1000M 2GB Memory.

2. Cybertron PC - Liquid Cooled AMD FX6300, 6 cores, 3.50ghz - 32GB DDR3 - MSI GeForce GTX 960 Gaming 4G, 4GB Video Ram, 1024 Cuda Cores.

Try some subtle background music and just increase the volume of the music while decreasing your comments in those areas.

I agree with Chuck. This is especially easy to do with the environment that you describe. Just take some audio that contains nothing but background crowd noise and use it to replace your voice (don't paste over your voice, replace your voice). Using the transition that Chuck describes makes it blend right in. No one will even notice. I've done this before and it's actually pretty amazing how well it works.

I do like David said but I'll razor cut both sides of bad clip.
Lower volume all the way of clip.

Then copy and paste a section of background noise on track below bad clip.

I have done this many times without a transition and you can't even tell.
I have a loud mouth.

I would think that would be an easy fix with all the background noise going on.
Thanks
Richard
