User discussion concerning all that's Photoshop Elements (all versions).

Hi- I'm having the weirdest problem...I can't get my organizer to allow me to stack photos. The only thing I can do is create version sets AS I edit new photos. I try selecting some photos in the organizer mode, and right clicking but the "stack" word is unavailable, and Control, shift, "s" does nothing either. The organizer edit button won't let me do it either. What's the deal?! This function has never worked correctly in my organizer, and I'm frustrated. Gail

Which version of the program are you using? And which operating system are you on?
Are you saying that you've never been able to stack photos in any version of the program or just in this one?
Have you ensured that you're only stacking photos -- and not video? If you've got two or more photos selected, the option should be available under the Edit menu.

I'm using PE6 with windows. (I have PE 9 but haven't had time to install it ) NO- I've never been able to use it, and yes- I'm only trying to stack photos. I tried a few years ago and gave up, but decided to try again today.

Well everyone, I've installed PSE and PME 9 and while I'm disappointed and frustrated about many things with the new software, I have solved my stacking problem...it turns out that the stack option only becomes viable in the "show all" mode, and won't work in the album view. This really is unhelpful because with the large number of files I work with, I'm ALWAYS in album view. Oh well- at least the mystery is solved. Any "fixes" to this?

Not that I know of -- but at least now we know the limitation! Thanks for reporting back, Gail.

no problem. Steve- can you notify Adobe of this "glitch"? You seem to have a relationship with them!

Well, I wish sometimes I HAD enough of a relationship with them that they'd take my advice regarding new features and bugs.
But this doesn't seem so much a glitch as it does the way the product is designed to work. And, when you see a limitation like this, it's often because trying to design it to work otherwise causes some unstable behavior.

Just wanted to update a solutionthat now that I know the problem- I've figured out a "work around". I tag the photos I want to stack with a temporary tag, disable the album view and just see the photos in the tag view. Then I stack my photos and disable the temporary tag.
