PS 6 to PS 7 for an undemanding user....?

Postby Briantho » Thu Oct 30, 2008 11:28 am

Hi,

I've bought the bundle for the last few versions and as far as Premiere Elements is concerned I'm glad I did each time. However, this time I was wondering if, from my point of view, it was really worthwhile going from Photoshop Elements 6 to 7 or maybe I might just as well wait for another year and another version.

Frankly, so far I've only used PS 6 (and previous versions) for doing panoramics (BRILLIANT feature!) and also for doing cutouts (using the magic wand) so that I can get the occasional object into the odd video. For cropping, enhancing, straightening etc I am such a peasant that I just turn to super simple Picasa. So for a low key user like me am I likely to find compelling reasons to pay for the bundle or should I just get PE 7 by itself...?

Many thanks in advance for any opinions.

Hi Brian,
Here is are a couple pretty nice lists of what's new in version 7

If none of those things appeal to you then you really don't need the upgrade :)
1. Thinkpad W530 Laptop, Core i7-3820QM Processor 8M Cache 3.70 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, NVIDIA Quadro K1000M 2GB Memory.

2. Cybertron PC - Liquid Cooled AMD FX6300, 6 cores, 3.50ghz - 32GB DDR3 - MSI GeForce GTX 960 Gaming 4G, 4GB Video Ram, 1024 Cuda Cores.

Just what I was looking for - many thanks Chuck! Having read through all of those, I think I'll only think about a potential purchase for the time being...
