Exit Summer - A one minute short

Postby tiny » Fri Aug 27, 2010 11:48 pm

My carpets were being cleaned today, so I went out and shot for a little while around town. It was fairly windy, so I made that the theme.

Lots of great shots. Good control of depth of field. We are heading out for a swim on what is likely the last really hot weekend here.
It was a great summer but as always too short!

Terrific imagery. Nice steady camera work, too. All handheld?

Thanks for the comments everyone.

I'm pretty sure all but the opening scene, and swing were handheld in some form. I wanted the camera to have a subtle movement in most of the shots I did. The two grasshopper shots probably had the most movement, but that is because in those shots the background wasn't moving, so I felt I could afford to have faster movement.

I was able to download the MP4 from Vimeo and then play it back in Splash Pro. It looked fantastic on my 1920x1080 monitor, and there were no stutters during playback.

Nicely done! I assume you were using presets for the rack focusing you did?

Thanks for the comments. I have been away for a while, so sorry for the slow reply.

This was shot in Rexburg, ID.

Hah, I don't have patience like that, which is my greatest downfall as a video guy. All shots with rack focusing is done by eye, looking at a small little 3.5 inch LCD that is really low pixel density. What I find is that what is in focus will usually have little jaggies around it, so that is what I look for as I'm jogging the focus. Still then, I sometimes don't get a shot, but most of the time I lose my shot because either what I wanted was not in frame due to a not very wide angle lens, or my exposure is off.
