Keeping with the Story Teller concept

Postby Danlson » Wed Nov 11, 2009 12:37 pm

I posted a reply to Steve's Story Telling article but I didn't want to hijack his thread with a sample of my first approach to the story telling style. Comments/critique welcome.

This was all handheld with a Canon HV30 and edited in Premiere Elements 7. Well, I did use a monopod in most instances.

I am in awe of the slide... and the editing was very good too. ::CLAP: Shots from different angles, interviews, and captured the excitement. A fun video.

I liked it. Nice touch with the "watch children" sign. \:D/

Th only suggestion I would offer is to lower the volume of the music a bit as people speak.

Hi Dan

You should be very proud of that video, I really enjoyed watching it. It was a nice mix of shots of the action on the slide and interviews. Good choice of music and well edited to the beat. To improve it still further I would certainly focus on improving the sound quality of the interviews and just be careful of the lighting for those being interviewed. Its an excellent effort though and I am sure the people who were there are going to enjoy it, and its a great advert for those yet to visit.

I like what everyone else likes about it. Nice editing. However, let me tell you two things I think can be imrpoved: 1. I thought it was too long. I think about 3:30 would have be better. 2. I like titles to be spelled correctly.

Thanks everyone for your comments. It seems the biggest criticism is over the length of the video. This is actually an abbreviated version of the DVD. There was a lot more happening that day then seen in this short and I have a lot of good sound bites. I agree that too long will usually lose an audience but in this case there is so much happening in the video that they won't notice the length. It's more or less a documentary of the day.

Thanks CDeemer for pointing out the misspelled title. I made this short in a rush to give to someone early in the project and corrected that before burning to DVD. I also hate misspelled titles.

Thanks again, everyone, for taking a look.
