Rough Cut 1st Draft

Postby Chuck Engels » Sun May 06, 2007 11:39 pm

This is the first draft of the trailer for a family movie I am working on. When I put one of Ron's songs as the music track it really started coming together so I though I would share it in the very early stages.

Cool. I see how the music really adds to the drama. BTW, didn't you use some of those clips for one of your recent tutorials? I recognized more than a couple of clips. :-D

The music really makes the difference, it almost put the whole thing together by itself. I still have titles and narration to add, along with a few minor adjustments but it is coming together so well and a large part is due to the great tune :)

I usually use my current project for tutorials if it works so I am sure you have seen some of this before ;)

A "family movie", Chuck?

A family movie about a possessed demon doll...

I'll be interested to see it evolve as you tighten it up!

Can't wait to see the final cut. I have a suggestion for the dark bed scene; shoot it in better light (for less noise) then adjust brightness and contrast to darken the clip, then adjust the RGB to give it a blue tint like you see at night.

I can't believe your sister(?) kept that doll all these years.

 no sleep for me tonight until all the dolls are locked into a trunk!

Look forward to seeing what decisions you make for the final cut.

Thanks guys :)

Great idea Ed, I will definately add the blue tint but don't know if we will be able to re-shoot. I do have another angle from another camera that may be better, I'll check. Thanks!

The editing is great and the music does create the tone so well. I got a little lost in the storyline towards the end.

I must say it reminds me of a Twilight Zone episode from long ago. I used to watch old episodes when I would babysit many years ago...(not a great thing to watch alone in someone elses house when you're up late).

Is it meant to be thrilleresque?
Happy Editing,

Beth

It will become more understandable after I add the titles and some narration, the 5 or 6 clips at the end will be used to mention the starring roles. This is mostly just for fun and is a Horror spoof of movies like 'Chucky'.
