Test tennis intro

Postby momoffduty » Tue Apr 24, 2007 2:44 pm

Posted a practice intro. Please, some feedback or suggestions.

The background still has a Gaussian blur set at 31.0, too blurry? Should use or not?

Tried to have the Test, High, School 'pop' as ball rolls, but had to put a fade so the end letters would not show up until the ball rolls over. Maybe a better way to achieve this?

Overall, too fast or slow? Too busy? More transitions?

The tennis season isn't until fall, but wanted to get some practice in this summer with the intro. There are a lot of tips on this site, I am trying to keep up with all of the new things I am learning! So maybe, when I am piecing the tennis vid together later I won't be spending 6 months assembling :)

Cheryl, thought this was cool. I liked as it is. BTW, some faculty at that school. :director:

I likey!

I thought the blur on the background was good. One thing that might be cool is to have one ball bouncing up and down a little to the right of the screen. Maybe have the other two bounce off screen before.

If you need stop motion of Cheney yelling at kids playing tennis let me know :)

Thanks claysand & ed. More bouncing balls would be good, seems there is some 'dead' time in there. Wondering if the Test, High, & School could pop up when the balls roll over by using a spherize effect so it looks like the ball is holding the word down. Not sure how to do this.

To bring in the Varsity lineup & JV lineup, thought about using balls bouncing with a frame title plate featuring each player. Got the idea from Isaac video, thanks Beth!

Sure ed, stopmo Dick yelling at the kids would be good  Or maybe having a tantrum throwing the racket, ala Jimmy Connors?
Dick was asked to resign as the trap shoot team coach, seems he made the students nervous. :)

It looks really great. I would try and adjust the last title (School) to come in after the ball has finished moving like the first two. Otherwise it's fab!

I'm not exactly sure what you were trying to describe with the sphere transisiton but did you know that you can adjust the transisiton to start at any point during the transision. In properties, there are sliders for the beginning and the end points of the transition. You can adjust the start so that you skip the sphere forming and have it start from the ball.
Happy Editing,

Beth

Wow Cheryl Good work. Have you thought about adding some sound effects of the balls bouncing?

Looks great!

Wow! The seasoned videographers around here keep raising the bar for the rest of us who are just starting.

I'm with Jamal, some sound effect with the bouncing balls would be good. There is a bouncing ball in the "sound effects" download here on muvipix. I did find a few free tennis sound effects when I Googled it.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the tips Beth, Wheat King & Cinde. I will fiddle with the transitions on the opening. I see it in my mind, but have to search for the controls in PE3. Sound FX with the bounce on the balls...Great Idea!

Cheryl, my advise would be to use the fancy transitions and effects on the intro, but scale them back or use standard cuts and fades for the video itself. I find that an over use of effects is distracting from the content.

All the cool stuff is just fine for an Intro though :)

Take a look at the American Idol intro, talk about tons of effects and stuff going on
