The power of great movie editing

Postby Steve Grisetti » Mon Oct 05, 2015 4:05 pm

A terrific mini-documentary on the power of great movie editing.

BTW, despite the racy name of the documentary, there is no actual adult language in the video.

That was fun. A lot of good insights there. Isn't it amazing how it takes about a half second to recognize those classic movies? The thing about great editing is when you don't think about the editing. It just works.

Well... The "bleeps" are not quite all perfectly done, but the message is perfectly clear. A lot of good advice there.

Fascinating observations in how to edit. The narrator sounds like Steve. Thanks for posting the video!

I agree on the voice sounding like Steve. Just less of the Midwest accent. Maybe that guy can work to improve his voice... :)

I really enjoyed that clip had some great insight to making good movies. Although I must say I am more of a fan of the old style of horror where they never show the demon but make your mind create what is a lot scarier than what ever they could show on the screen.

Good Find.

Ah, Steve SilverVoice!

Thanks for posting this. The more I learn about how 'good' movies are made, as opposed to simply watching and enjoying them, the more chances I have of thinking of a way to make my tutorials less boring. Perhaps wide shot vs close shot aren't going to make the difference, but the tension created by suspense might - if I can think of a way to introduce it!
