I accidentally had my player set to auto repeat and I watched this video for nearly 7 hours before I realized what had happened. Be yourself; everyone else is taken.

Re: Another HummerVery nice Paz is this something you recorded? The image is very crisp and clear. I like that DOF it makes all the difference in the world. What camera did you use to record this. The birds always look so big in video but when I see them perched in a tree they are so tiny. Well done

Re: Another Hummer
Dave, I hope you don't tell your tech customers that you did this! I agree with Sidd on the quality, DOF, and the composition. Curious on your set up. aka Cheryl

Re: Another HummerYes, it is mine, Sidd. I shot this with a Canon 1.4X telephoto lens screwed onto the end of a Panasonic 900 something, a few years old, in manual settings. The Pany has a Leica lens and a larger pixel size than my JVC camcorder so I'm trying to learn to use the Pany instead.
Shutter speed was probably either 1//120 (my usual) or 1/60, which is offers the lightest view without digging into submenus. The aperture would be somewhere between wide open and f/3.4 or so. Definitely a shallow depth of field. The camera was set up on my monopod with feet - I've recently upgraded (I think) to the Chicken Feet brand. Much larger feet but the monopod itself is not on a fluid ball - about 10 feet away from the feeder. It isn't possible to focus if you are too close with the telephoto in place. Let's see... Okay, I found the box. The Canon 1.4X is a TC-DC52. It has 52mm threads. I used a step-up ring to go from 49 to 52. I bought it as 'new, old stock' on Ebay for not much recently and liked it so much I bought another, a Canon 2.0. I'll try to find the exact info on it. I did some video testing I need to put together to share here; without, with 1.4 and with 2.0. I've added a hanging basket of petunias next to the hummer feeder and have been editing and sitting here all morning turning the camcorder on and off via remote control. Nice work - if ya can get it! Thanks everyone - hope to have more to share soon. The hummer is there RIGHT NOW. Oh well, he flew away. They're so flighty! Re: Another HummerAhhhhhhh...hummers are so fun to watch. Your DOF really takes out the background detail and the little bird stands out well. NICE JOB!!
Re: Another Hummer Beautiful shot. Well worth the effort.
