A new director's debut

Postby momoffduty » Tue Jan 29, 2013 4:19 pm

My 3yo granddaughter co-directed this mini movie. Gave me a chance to shoot in manual & manual focus. Which there are missed focus shots :-8 I wanted to reshoot a few scenes, but she was on to the next thing. I am not very fast with the focus & settings to keep up with a 3yo on the move. She was fascinated with the glide track. I've made many mini movies for her and she now has an interest behind the camera. She was chimping after every shot. :) Who knows maybe she will grow up to be a film maker.

Practicing with the glide track:

That was great Cheryl! What a cutie. Excellent choice of ending too!
...made many mini movies...

Try that one 10 times real fast! :)

Thanks guys! Yeah, after shooting for over an hour she crashed for about two hours. She was telling me which button to push to take the picture..lol. I really wanted to reshoot the harsh light/shadow photos but by then she was done.

Hi Cheryl, I almost missed this post. Lovely video! Your little director is too cute.

I have 2 three year old grandsons ( cousins ). When ever they notice they are being filmed, they say >cheeeese...., which makes for funny videos, but is not always what you want. The other variant is trying to look into the lens to see what I have filmed.
Your little one behaves already like a seasoned movie star =D>

Great job on the filming and editing Cheryl :TU: The glide track sounds interesting, I have to look into that.

This is wonderful, Cheryl! Beautiful lit and wonderfully textured. And I love that slider! Great song too!

I think you've found an excellent collaborator!

Thanks Gerlinde & Steve. She was in the filming mood that day. Somedays not so, like today her mother wanted a few photos of her in her super girl costume. Temperamental talent...lol.

She did enjoy getting the toys out and directing me on who to shoot. She told me which button to push a few times.

Gerlinde, I bet that is cute video of them saying cheese. :-D We started saying stinky feet at Christmas. I really like the indiSlidermini and need a sturdy tripod for it. The cheap one I have now doesn't have a secure head so when I slide the cam one way or another it dips. Table tops & floors for now. I am thinking about getting an XGrip and only $19 last time I looked. Or maybe build a DIY figrig. Our next project will be at the park when spring finally gets here. It will give me time to practice focusing.

The song is from the Vimeo music store. There are some for free and others are $1.98 for on personal use project. Commercial work is $100. There are limitations on both licenses.

Moby offers free use on some songs at MobyGratis.com and there are limitations. There is a group on Vimeo too of users and the group's name is Moby Gratis.

And of course I have used Ron's music here at Muvipix in multiple projects.

what a photogenic kid. That could have been a Gap Kids or Target commercial. I especially liked the slider at the end.

Thanks Sidd! She likes pushing the button on the camera and likes playing with the slider. I've got a few ideas for this summer that she can participate behind the camera more.
