May a screenshot catch frame in a faster movement than another and the quality depend on that?
Better: is it possible that the Vimeo screenshot is a duller frame than YouTube's?

Re: Video quality: YouTube vs VimeoYes, Francesco, I think, since both Vimeo and YouTube compress their files, that a single frame shot, even with the same number on the timeline, might not be exactly the same.
Here is a comparison that may help because it has a freeze frame built in at 10 and the same frame at the end. I'm curious as to how these two versions compare to viewers in general and how they compare when viewed on mobile devices. The YouTube file was uploaded to YouTube on June 28, 2015. I put YuTube in the name to be sure I could add the finished painting at the end and be positive it was/is the same file. Re: Video quality: YouTube vs VimeoBreathtaking artwork Patrice! Very talented
A thought on video quality YT vs Vimeo, does the average viewer notice? I say this because my friends or family do not see what I see in terms of pixel peeping. I was showing a friend my photo workflow and how I de-noise some photos. She didn't see the noise. Same with family members that have watched me work. They don't pixel peep. aka Cheryl

Re: Video quality: YouTube vs VimeoThanks, Mom. The little guy is nearly finished. He's a little too gold in some of his feathers and needs some itsy, bitsy, teeny. tiny white feather tips enhancement here and there.
No. In my opinion they don't. They really don't see the difference even when you point out certain things to them... but over time, once some things have been explained, they do begin to see. And people begin to notice after simply being exposed to some videos that take their breath away, as happened to me when I saw your red water wheel turning on the river boat. It matters to me. Re: Video quality: YouTube vs VimeoA guy on FB pointed something out to me that is probably the culprit in the "Why is Vimeo quality not great?" mystery. The Vimeo video was, by default, configured for 720p, NOT 1080p. I learned this by clicking "Settings", then "Video File" and looked at the resolution.
D'oh! I had no idea. I just presumed that my 1080p video would be uploaded and displayed at 1080p. Well, uh, no. ALL of my videos are that way. Thought you would want to know... Desktop: HPE-580T, i7-950 (3.07GHz), 16GB RAM, Win'7 64-bit Home Premium, PSE12/PRE12, Lightroom 5.
Laptop: MacBook Pro (retina), 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, Final Cut Pro X, Motion 5. Cameras (in use): Panasonic GH4/Canon HFR400/Canon HV30, GoPro HD Hero2.
Re: Video quality: YouTube vs VimeoYeah, even paying Vimeo members have to specify that they want the video in 1080p. If I'm reading the following correctly, I think a Pro member can change the files they've already uploaded to 1080p without re-uploading.
Be yourself; everyone else is taken.

Re: Video quality: YouTube vs VimeoI just went to settings and yes, the Vimeo video was set at 720p. I was able to change it to 1080p.
I'm not thrilled that I had to take that extra step to get 1080 and had no idea I needed to. I really like that YouTube allows the viewer the option of selecting the resolution they want. Wish YouTube would do a better job of selecting a higher res first for those who don't know it is available. That said, I thought the (former 720) Vimeo looked about the same as the 1080 YouTube.
