Monitor profile appears defective

Postby robertcallahan » Sun Oct 15, 2023 6:05 pm

New install of 2023 Elements Premier and Elements. I've moved everything from an old computer. I have a new Dell U27323 QE monitor with a Dell XPS 8960. When I go to edit I get "The monitor profile Dell U2723QE color Profile, D6500, DCI-PE_V2 appears to be defective. Please rerun your monitor calibration software" " Ignore Profile" or "Use Anyway"
Adobe support says to run win 11 "Calibrate Display Color". I get the following message: "This display currently uses a wide-gamut color profile. The Display Color Calibration will create a color profile with a conventional gamut, which may be a poor fit for this display and result in distorted color appearance. Do you want to continue anyway?"

The XPS has a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080. It is set to 3840 by 2160 True Color.
I have not modified the settings.
Not sure where to start.

I would suggest contacting Dell support.

I tried that and they told me to run "calibrate display color", which gave me the other error in my post

I've never seen or heard a report of an error code like this before, Robert. So I'm not sure what to recommend.

Per Peru, I'd first ensure that it's Premiere Elements generating this error code and not your operating system or something Dell. As I''ve said Premiere Elements usually doesn't generate messages like this.

What graphics card are you running? It could be that it needs a fresh driver.

I've decided that working with Dell support is worse than going to the dentist. In between their "suggestions" I seemed to somehow fix the problem and successfully re-calibrate with the Win 11 tool. That fixed the problem in Adobe as you suggested. Thank you all for your help. Now on to my next problem with .mov files. I'll open a different thread for that.
