While testing my new Canon HF R400 camcorder I learned the following about its four AVCHD recording modes:
- 60p = 60fps 1920x1080 28Mbps
- MXP = 30fps 1920x1080 24Mbps
- FXP = 30fps 1920x1080 15Mbps
- LP = 30fps 1440x1080 5Mbps
I shot footage of a bookcase in all four modes, combined the clips in PRE10 and exported the timeline as 1920x1080 M2T (30i) and MP4 files (30p). Since AVCHD LP mode is 1440x1080 I expected to see less material on the left and right screen edges as compared to the 1920x1080 modes. However, all four modes displayed the same screen size.
Even when I view each individual clip with Windows Media Player, all four clips seem to display the same amount of the bookcase. Can someone help me understand what is going on?
