Help! The 1440x1080i Video Is Great but the1920x1080 Photos

Postby George Tyndall » Wed Dec 03, 2008 3:18 pm

look very grainy on my 52-in 1920x1080 LCD TV.

The video and the stills were made simultaneously with one camera, a Canon HV30, using ambient light (no flash).

Whereas the subject and background look very good in the video, the stills are very grainy, despite the fact that I limited the camera's ISO to 100.

On a 1920x1080 screen, shouldn't the 1920x1080 stills look even better than the 1440x1080 video?

Are you sure that the stills are infact 1920x1080 resolution. I know when I take photos with my SONY HDV camcorder I can set different resolutions.

Yes, Paul, that is the setting I chose, and that is also what is displayed when I choose to show the photo's metadata.
