stopping capture of video from a Pyro video capture device

Postby tjodork » Thu Nov 11, 2010 11:15 am

A friend is capturing old tapes via a Pyro capture device.....he ends up with lots of blank video (until he stops the recording).
Is there a good method to automatically stop when the video goes dead for a period ?
He could capture with PE3 or windv or ???
Thanks for any suggestions

There is always a signal coming in so the recording will never stop automatically no matter what software is used. Just need to be there when the tape ends that's all ;)

When I record with WinDV and forget to be on hand when the recorded portion finishes the recording through WinDV stops - for me.

That's good to know Ken, not sure how that works and I don't recall this being the case for me.
How long after the recording ends does the capture stop? I've used WinDV for years and don't remember it ever stopping automatically. But then it's been awhile so it could be that I just forgot :-k

I will check next time. I have been using the DAC-100 lately rather than the Pyro Link but I think they behave the same. When the synch pulses disappear WinDV just stops. At least that is how I remember it. Just used it last week.
