Time display

Postby mark hansen » Tue Aug 12, 2008 2:04 pm

Is there a way to display the time on the video? for example, I'm editing some stuff for some one that is another town, its hard to to get the message of cut it "here" or take out from here to there. If I could put a time display on the video he could say cut from 6:31 to 7:35 and I would know exactly what he means. I rremember Pinnacle having an add on that would do that. I had hoped of creating a AVI of just the time counting with frames too) and put that on a separate track. reduce the size and trim off the excess so all you saw was a black rectangle and the counting time. He tells me what to cut out and right before final editing, I take out the track.

Does PE3 have a add on for that? Is that something that can be easily done?

If you have PPro CS3 there's a Video Effect that will do it...

Thanks for the link on the timecode generator. I was able to get drop BMP files and put them in a time line. when I create an AVI file... I'm still trying to figure that out.

Jack,

What effect is it that you are talking about? I am interested in knowing which one it is and how to use it.

In PPro CS3 it's under "Video Effects -> Video -> Timecode"... just drag-and-drop like you would with any other effect.

And, in After Effects, it's under effects and presets, Text, Timecode.

If you downloaded version 2 it will generate an AVI file. Import this into PE4 using Get Media and then resize and position it as an overlay on the track above your video.
