What I describe below works. I wonder if there's a more efficient way to get there. For my hyperdrama project, I have to divide a number of videos, each 5 to 7 mins. long, into sequential clips of various lengths and rename them so they can be reassembled in new orders (the clips coming from any of the videos). In Elements, I've been defining the clips as a work area, exporting as an .avi file, then converting the .avi to .mov for uploading and embedding at a website. Apparently I can't export a work area directly as a .mov file. This would save a step. At any rate, I'm just wondering if there's some short cut I'm missing here. I have a ton of clips to make so want the grunt work to be as efficient as possible. Thanks. By the way, 6 of the 7 character narrative videos are done ... see http://www.ibiblio.org/cdeemer/CK-V-top.htmThe clips above are used in the viewer-defined path through the narrative -- that is, the viewer decides which clips to watch in which order (appropriate to the chronology of the story).

Pretty sure you can export the work area as any format Charles, have you checked under the advanced properties? What version of Premiere Elements are you using?

PE3 and I did check advanced settings ... maybe I missed it. I'll look again. Would be nice to be able to, for sure. If I can, and you know where the setting is, maybe you can tell me. My eyes aren't what they used to be

Just wanted to be sure of the version, PE4 made some changes that I am still not sure about. I will check PE3 and let you know.

The option for exporting the Work Area Only is on the final page where you name the file and location as below; This is clearly explained in the Premiere Elements 2 In A Snap book
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post. 1. Thinkpad W530 Laptop, Core i7-3820QM Processor 8M Cache 3.70 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, NVIDIA Quadro K1000M 2GB Memory. 2. I get significantly higher quality exporting as AVI, then converting to MOV, compared to exporting as MOV. So I guess this is the ticket.
