2. Cybertron PC - Liquid Cooled AMD FX6300, 6 cores, 3.50ghz - 32GB DDR3 - MSI GeForce GTX 960 Gaming 4G, 4GB Video Ram, 1024 Cuda Cores.
Re: Audacity downloadI have both installed - they can co-exist. The Beta version has much better noise reduction but occasionally seems to lock up on my PC.
Re: Audacity downloadDo I download into C>Program files? And do I need to download Lame MP3?

Re: Audacity downloadProgram Files is fine, and yes, download the Lame Encoder as well you will need it if you want to work with or export MP3 format.

Re: Audacity downloadGot it downloaded and watched the tutorials again to refresh my memory. (BTW the audacity tutorials are a good speed...not too fast that I was able to take notes and not to slow that it felt like paint drying.) I also printed out the beginner cut, copy, etc. from audacity site.
Here is my thinking on making the evolution mix: In Audacity, cut each song into bits and save in a folder of 5 to 10 secs. songs (like a reverse of the tutorial when you bring in the folder and it is in one long piece.) Name each song in sequence so they appear in order. Bring the folder into Audacity and it is now mixed. Save that mix and burn in another project. By having each bit separate listed in one folder will give me the option to swap out or rearrange when the bride changes her mind later (know she will ) Am I on the right track? Re: Audacity downloadIf I understand what you are saying correctly, that should work fine Cheryl.
Problem is I am not sure I really understand what you are doing by all of those cuts in 5 - 10 sec. pieces. 1. Thinkpad W530 Laptop, Core i7-3820QM Processor 8M Cache 3.70 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, NVIDIA Quadro K1000M 2GB Memory.
2. Cybertron PC - Liquid Cooled AMD FX6300, 6 cores, 3.50ghz - 32GB DDR3 - MSI GeForce GTX 960 Gaming 4G, 4GB Video Ram, 1024 Cuda Cores.
Re: Audacity downloadCouldn't you do all of those cuts right in PE? Unless I'm not understanding something. You can make them any length you want (probably with more accuracy as the video is right there as your reference), fade them, adjust volumes, etc?

Re: Audacity downloadAt this point I think cutting up the songs in PE may be easier for me. The intro song will be about 30 secs, then record scratch SFX, then 17 song clips that are anywhere from 5 secs to 18 secs each, then back to the intro song.
At least in PE I know how to work the tools. I can export and burn audio only right? aka Cheryl

Re: Audacity download
Sure, but why not do it with the video as well (unless you're breaking it up in pieces, which is a good idea too)? But yes, you could put all those tracks on the timeline(s) and adjust the lengths in mere seconds... Again, don't know exactly what you're doing. I got an idea, just don't have the details. Regards,

Re: Audacity downloadMom just a little of what I had to do this week.
I had to shorten 2 songs for an motion background. one 12 seconds the other about 24 seconds. I opened Audacity (without ever using it before a) and was lost. So I opened a finished PE 2.0 project. Cleared the time line, imported both songs. Put one song on the timeline and shortened. Then Exported. Did again for other song. I spent more time looking at Audacity than what it took to do in PE 2.0 Maybe 5 minutes. I must look at Steve's tutorial on Audacity. Thanks

Re: Audacity downloadI am making a dance mix CD for the wedding party. An example:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QujA8YYgTWU In PE3 I could do this fairly fast, save the project for any changes later. Do I export audio as what? Do I burn to folder and burn the CD in another program. (That is what I do for all of my DVD projects.) aka Cheryl

Re: Audacity downloadMom export as WAV which if I remember correctly is all that it will export at.
Thanks

Re: Audacity downloadThanks Richard, I will try that. May post another question in a week or two when I am putting it all together.
