Nero Plug-in for Premiere Pro and Elements

Postby RJ Johnston » Fri Jan 04, 2008 6:09 am

If you have Nero 7, and probably Nero 8, there is a Nero Digital plug-in for Adobe Premiere Pro and Elements. To have the plug-in installed automatically, Premiere must be installed before you install Nero. On my system the plug-ins were not installed in the Premiere Elements plug-in folder. Instead of uninstalling both apps and then installing them in the correct order, I just copied the plug-in files from the Nero program folder to the Adobe program folder.

Navigate to c:\program files\nero\nero7\adobe

There you will find encnd.prm and encwiz.dll. Copy those two files to c:\program files\adobe\adobe premiere elements 4.0\plug-ins\common. I don't know exactly where you would copy them for the Premiere Pro version.

The PDF manual is quite thorough in explaining how to use the plug-in.

In Premiere Elements 4.0 when you choose File > Export, there will be a new menu item labeled "Nero Digital...."

There are various presets for exporting to MP4, including HDTV and iPod.

I've played back a couple files in Windows Media Player, VLC, and Nero ShowTime.

Hi Robert any idea if this works with PE3. I have NERO 7 but haven't seen the export option. I will go in and play. Thanks.

Robert,
Have you looked at the exported files for quality? I am curious if there is a difference....

Another excellent find, Robert!

So can you give us an explanation of what exactly it does and if the results are worth the effort?

I haven't tested for quality, and don't plan to. There are tons of settings. I suppose you can make the quality as good or as bad as you want. My computer isn't powerful enough to test the high definition stuff, except maybe for 720p.

Ok, I was just wondering if the same settings as the defaults in PE might produce something better (or worse) than PE. If I get time I will check it out myself. So you can just disregard my question.

I couldn't get working the Nero Digital Plug-in that is installed with the trial version of Nero 8 in PE 2.0, 3.0, or 4.0. And even though I already had PE 4.0 installed before I installed Nero 8 trial, the plug-in wasn't automatically installed. This might have something to do with the fact that I'm trying these in VMWare Workstation, a virtual machine. The only thing I've got working is on my regular machine with XP Pro with the paid version of Nero 7 Ultra and paid version of PE 4.0.

I exported a clip using the Standard preset of the Nero Digital plug-in and compared the results to an export using the QuickTime MPEG-4 compressor (Share > Personal Computer > Quicktime > Advanced route). Using the same bitrates and dimensions, the Nero one is much better.

I got Nero 8 a couple of months ago. In PrEl v2 File/Export/Movie has the NeroDigital option but clicking on it results in no action. :-({|=

Possibly the Nero 8 version has a bug. I'll have to try Nero 7 over in VMWare where there is PE 2.0 and 3.0.

I got the Nero Digital plug-in from Nero 7 Ultra to work with PE 2.0. I couldn't get it to work in VMWare Workstation, maybe because the workstation is only a single-processor environment while my host computer is multiprocessor (hyperthreading), or the video RAM is too low in the workstation, or a multitude of other factors.

Ken, There is a bug in the Nero 8 version. All the presets are missing from the dropdown box in the NeroDigital Wizard, and any attempts to use the wizard cause crashes. This is in both PE 2.0 and 4.0.

I emailed Nero Technical Support about the problem.

I have follow the instruction but I can't use the plugin in Premiere Elements 4, to export video in Nero Digital.
I have Nero 7 anche Premiere Elements 4, I have installed Premiere and Nero 7 after but the plugin was not installed.
I try to find manualy the 2 files to copy it in the right directory, but I havn't got it!
What can I do?

There is someone that can give me the 2 files? I can give my email to send it to me...

Please help me, because for me is very important this plugin!
Thanks to all,

Francesco

I am also in a similar situation, even I have the folder Core but not Adobe. If someone had the 2 files from send, perhaps the problem could be resolved so...
