Render-can I still EDIT?I am a newbie and wondering: what exacty does RENDERING do/mean? Can I still EDIT my project after rendering?
Re: Render-can I still EDIT?Yes. Rendering is for playback for viewing while in the editor. Welcome CK! You may want to change your user name to something other than your email addy.

Re: Render-can I still EDIT?To expand upon Mom's answer: If your media can be viewed smoothly on your computer, manual rendering is not necessary as the program will render "on the fly." If you add certain effects or transitions, or if the media is more demanding than your hardware can handle, then manual rendering will make it play (more) smoothly. These preview files (Media Cache files) are stored on your computer. If you make a change to a clip after it is rendered, the files will no longer have the proper render information, and may need to be rendered again for smooth playback. If you delete the preview files, then the program will recreate them when you render again.
