GoPro odd file numbering

Postby momoffduty » Sun Nov 30, 2014 1:46 pm

I shot a timelapse and the numbers were in order, no problem. Shot another timelapse on the same card at a later date and the 2nd timelapse numbers were the same as the first timelapse numbers. The 1st timelapse numbers were re-numbered with a hypen 1. So now I have 2000 photos with the two timelapses mixed every other photo.

For example:

40001
40001-1
40002
40002-2

Why did this happen? What is an easy fix besides Ctrl+select every other photo and move to a new folder in Bridge?

You can fix it in 3 steps in Bridge. Step 1: Sort by created date. Step 2: Select the group to be renamed. Each group should be listed in order -- click on the first and shift-click on the last to select the desired group. 3. Rename the selected images using the batch rename tool (ctrl+shift+r). You can rename them in place or copy/move them to another folder.

Great idea on sort by date! I've been dragging to a new folder a few rows and then deleting a few rows.

I still would like to find out why this occurred. The card was taken out of the camera and placed in at a later date. Wonder if that would make a difference?
