Specific to Premiere Elements Version 12.

Hi Guys,
I recently completed a project and right before I created the dvd, I rendered the file. But during the process, the program abruptly crashed. Went back into program and the file and I never could get that final 2 minutes to render. I even did a save as and made a copy. But still I could not render that section. I went ahead and created the dvd and what I noticed was the animations on the text hesitated slightly on the dvd version, not on the screen. I'm sure I was the only one who noticed. Just bugged me.
Is there something I could have done to get the whole file to render? I even deleted all rendered files and started over - nada. Final minutes would not complete. And how important on the final project is the rendered file? Fortunately this was a small video - argh, I hate for it to happen on a big one!
Thanks Mary Anne

There could be a gap between clips. Try to zoom in using the slider above the timeline and see if there is an indication of any problem with your clip.

I think it is called the expert view timeline. It is located directly above the tracks. This indicates how much of your clips will render. Make sure you pull the end of the bar to the end of the movie you want to create. Sidd

Thanks for the picture, Sidd. "c" in the picture is the slider I was talking about. If you move it to the right it will enlarge the timeline and you can see better what is going on in the section that does not export to dvd. And yes, make sure the work area bar covers the end of your clip. But since you said your export crashed I assume you have a problem with some dead space between the clips or maybe a transition thats not set correctly.

I think that Gerlinde has it right. A small gap in the timeline would be my first though too.

One other possibility is that, since it's in the final couple of minutes of creating the DVD that the program crashes, it's not the rendering/re-encoding that's the problem at all. In the last few minutes of the process, the program is taking the rendered file and burning it to a disc -- and that may be the point where things are going south.
The easiest test for that is to see if you can burn to a folder rather than disc or even if you can create an ISO file. If you can, then you know that it's the disc burn itself that's the problem. And you can then use a program like ImgBurn to burn that ISO or folder to a disc.

Good point, Steve. I agree, it could also be a problem with the dvd burning process.
