Question about transitions

Postby Dave McElderry » Tue Sep 25, 2012 1:41 pm

Was watching Steve's tutorials on the new version and I have a question. If you click on the Transitions button and then choose a category, is that choice sticky? That is, will that category still be the one to open up the next time you click on Transitions?

Sorry to tell you that it is not Dave, it does not seem to remember what transition or category you selected last.

Disappointing. They did away with the Favorites a while back. It seems to me that at least being able to get directly to a commonly used transition such as a dissolve would be pretty basic. :pull: Thanks Chuck.

I was doing a project the other day and it was driving me crazy too. Even though I selected the "Dissolve" category, whenever I closed and then opened the transitions again it would be back to "All". I tried it a number of times and it never did stick.

Very odd because I just tried it and, as long as the project was open, the transitions stayed to my chosen selection. Only when I closed the project and opened it again did it return to default. I just don't understand why dissolve isn't the default.

As long as I leave the transitions window open they don't change, but if I switch to audio transitions from video, or if I switch to effects and then back to transitions they do not stay. Are you using the version 11 trial or do you have the full version installed Paul?

I believe I have the full version. I just tried it again. Put on two pictures and did a dissolve between them and then went to effects and added a light effect. Went back to transitions and the dissolve options were still available.

I stand corrected, what Paul says is correct. As long as you don't close the project or open a new project the choice you make in Effects and Transitions sticks. I think that I was using version 10 when I tested this the first time.
Anyway, thanks Paul, it really does work :exc:
