Re: Upgrade from Sony Vegas Studio to Vegas Pro 9 for $149I just upgraded my Studio to Pro after seeing this on the Sony forum but it wasn't easy. The Sony web site kept trying to sell me Pro for $489 instead of $149 even though I entered my Studio serial number. When I called Sony, they implied the $149 was a "mistake" but offered to honor that price "since I saw it on the web site". I took them up on it without asking too many questions.
I had switched to Vegas Studio after giving up on Premiere Elements 7 and found Vegas was rock solid but it won't burn BluRay disks with menus. Well, Vegas Pro and DVD Architect 5 does burn BluRay disks with menus and so far I'm loving it. In fact, it turns out that I can create a BluRay disk with menus by inputting my Canon HF100 (AVCHD) clips directly into DVDA and skipping Vegas altogether. DVDA Pro accepts the h.264 clips as-is and creates a BluRay disk without re-rendering the clips (although it does re-render the audio). I also like the metering and histogram you get in Pro that you don't get in Studio. Paul
Re: Upgrade from Sony Vegas Studio to Vegas Pro 9 for $149It's back to regular pricing now. Oh well.
Re: Upgrade from Sony Vegas Studio to Vegas Pro 9 for $149Interesting..... does anyone know what the deal is/was? Did they perhaps intend to have a higher price for the Studio --> Pro upgrade vs. Pro --> Pro? The upgrade in general was supposed to be good through the end of the year.
In any event, I'm glad I got in on it. Turns out that Pro is the editor I have been looking for. And as a bonus, it opens projects done in Studio just fine. Paul
Re: Upgrade from Sony Vegas Studio to Vegas Pro 9 for $149That price is for the "Pro - Pro" upgrade... I got the original email for the Pro-Pro upgrade then I saw the thread over on the Sony forum regarding the "Studio - Pro" upgrade. I guess they just messed up. The upgrade from Studio to Pro is usually much more. That is why I posted here when I saw it.
