Here's a question for any of you using Pro. I just upgraded to it and I'm really happy with the new capablities (although many of the nice shortcuts are not there like in ELements). I am a little curious what I'm missing now that version 4 is released. Hope you guys who upgrade will share.
Anyway my question...
WHen I use transisitons that have the ability to add a border (barn doors, irises, wipes) the transparancy dissapears any time you add a border (this was not the case in ELements nor is it the case if you add no border). Instead of showing what's on the lower tracks, the screen outside the border lines is now black. This doesn't seem right. Is this normal or an error on my application? I would be extremely dissapointed if it is normal especially if the Elements version is more advanced.
Anyone know?
Happy Editing,
Beth

Not quite sure what you mean? It works the same way as it does in PE2/3. If you have two clips and apply the barn door transition between them and apply a border, the border will be the color that you select... the border is never transparent.
If you apply the transition one sided to a clip not transitioning to anything else then the video below shows though. If you apply a border you still see the video below outside the border.

That's exactly the problem, with a border applied the video does not show through. It is black instead. I've written to Adobe but haven't heard back yet. But I did think it is a problem with my program. Thanks for confirming.

With PPro 2 it shows through, I would expect it to be the same in CS3. Dont have CS3... got Sony Vegas Pro 8 instead.

Beth, I will test it out later tonight and let you know what I find, unless someone else with Pro CS3 beats me to it Some of the things you will miss in version 4 will be the new transitions and effects, some very nice stuff. I am thinking about trying the effects in Pro, not sure how to do that yet but there must be an effects folder somewhere with files in it that I could copy I don't know if Pro has the Image Stabilizer or not, and in version 4 ----- The Undo and Redo buttons are back

I played with the trial of CS3.. no image stabilizer. Infact there was virtually no change from PPro2. Just more tightly intergrated with the other Adobe applications, and a few more export options.

New Blue has downloadable plugin's (some are the same that come with Premiere elements) that apparently work with Adobe products as well as other nle's. http://www.newbluefx.com/If you buy all the effects is looks like it would cost you over $200! Which makes me wonder... are all the newblue effects that we saw in Chuck's quick look going to be available at no extra cost?

Hi Chuck,
If you haven't already checked, thanks but I spoke to someone at Adobe (for a long time) and I discovered a bug. Unfortunately since it is a bug it may be a loooooong time before they get it fixed and send out the patch. It's a real bummer because it's something I use a lot. The only workaround is to create in Elements and export out as a movie to import back in.
Thanks anyway.
PS Otherwise the program is great.
Happy Editing,
Beth

Thanks for the update Beth. Don't worry, they are putting out updates a few times a week it seems
