HELP - ERROR UPON BURNING

Postby westport1992 » Thu Jan 31, 2008 10:32 am

One must have a lot of patience when doing picture/video editing.

After working many hours on putting together a project for a local photographer of a Wedding,
I am having difficulty getting it to burn.

The message is occuring when it is encoding media and it says:

"RUNTIME ERROR - UNKNOWN EXCEPTIION"

Has anyone experience this error before? What can I do? What steps can I
take to get the DVD to burn? HELP ... I'm feeling SO close and yet SO far from
getting this project completed.

Thank you - Debi Koebel, Tributes to Cherish, Hanover Ontario CANADA

You can try burning to a folder on your hard drive rather than directly to a disk. That eliminates the likelihood of a problem with your DVD burner.

Most likely, though, the photos are too large. We always recommend optimizing photo size to no larger than 1000x750 pixels. This not only eliminates Premiere Elements main reason for crashing during encoding, but it also speeds the encoding process all around.

Re: HELP - HOW TO CHANGE SIZE OF PHOTOS

Postby westport1992 » Thu Jan 31, 2008 11:55 am

Hi There:

A STUPID question ... I'm sure ... learning as I'm going.

How does one change the size of the photos to the recommended size of 1000x750 pixels ??

Thanks ... this will help me in future projects.

Debi,
In the Photoshop Elements Editor window, click "Image->Resize->Image Size" and you can adjust the photo size. Just remember to leave "Constrain Proportions" checked.
To do multiples, go to "File->Process Multiple Files" and you can do a bunch at once.

And if you set the destination as another folder you will keep the originals and have the resized copies as well.
You can easily add the whole folder to a Premiere Elements project and delete it when you are done if you like.
