The Green Bay Packers Fan Topic

Postby Chuck Engels » Wed Jan 16, 2008 3:50 pm

This is where Packer fans can post anything they want to cheer on the team :)

I have 1 brother, 1 sister and my Dad in Green Bay and lived there myself at one time.
Also lived in Coleman, Marinette, Wausau, Pound, Peshtigo and a few other places.

My Dad had an uncle that played for the packers and another uncle that was in charge of the Gameday Programs.
Lots of history there and I know there are no fans like Packer fans =D>

Can I post Bronco here or should that be separate since they are in a league of their own? :-D

If the Broncos were in the playoffs if might make a difference, but seeing they are not I don't care :)

The only teams that really matter anymore are
Chargers, Patriots, Giants and Packers

All other teams are second rate :-

Guys, they're painting the whole town green and gold, here in Milwaukee.

About the only thing that could knock Brett Favre off the local news headlines is a snowstorm. (Strangely, no world headline could.)

I'm not a sports fan by any means, but it is hard not to get caught up in this fever!

I just hope it doesn't end in heartbreak. In the deep, dark Wisconsin winter, football is all a lot of folks have here...

Pats have been a fun team to watch this year, I don't normally watch NFL but have caught a couple of Pats games. Amazing run they're on. Would like to see Brett get another go at it too!

Well, I have been fortunate enough to grow up with season tickets to the Packers! It was always a wonderful experience going to Lambeau Field.....even when they weren't so great in the 80's.....truly a magical place! Now, that I live on the other side of the state, I don't go very often, it gets hard with the drive and young kids. But, I try to get there once a year.....having the oportunity to watch my son's first experience there this September was one of those "great mom" moments in life!!!

I can't believe I am letting my husband go to the game Sunday.......he is actually a VIKING fan (I know, I know...I don't know how we survived some football seasons without some serious counciling! ;) ) Though, if his team is out of the picture, he truly does become a pretty good Packer fan!! I guess a Viking fan is still better than a bear fan, right? :-D Kerrie

Okay, since Chuck has the GB avatar I had to go with the Giants. I haven't really been following pro ball that much this year until the playoffs but it's that hometown pride thing.

It'll be definitely fun on my part. Now, if it were college football, that would be a different story. We're passionate Rutger's fans... as well as University of Georgia (which Chuck may be too) because of Knowshon Moreno. He's from Middletown and my son played high school football with him (Knowshon was a year ahead). Everyone knew this kid was something special. Someday, if (more likely when) he's playing in the NFL, I'm gonna get out all the video and photos I have of him and put something together.

Partially due to the NFL representation here in Atlanta most everyone follows College football more than the NFL.
We have huge rivalries at work between Georgia, Georgia Tech, Clemson, Tennessee, and Alabama, but mostly Georgia and Georgia Tech.
I follow College Basketball on occasion but not usually football, not enough time for all of that sports. I spend most of my sports time on Baseball and the Chicago CUBS :)

Here in Portland, Oregon, the best fish and chips in town, or anywhere I've ever been, are at the Corbett Fish House. I always get the "boatload," 3 pieces of hailbut, 3 of walleye, 3 of oysters, and 3 of cajun catfish -- and I bring all this up because this is the biggest Packer-fan establishment you'll find in these parts, the owner being a transplant. Posters etc are everywhere. All the televised games draw a packed house. When Seattle played them recently, it was even crazier than usual because local fans are likely to be for the Seahawks, and then with "our" quick 14-0 lead -- only to get creamed -- well, it was a mad house in there. It will be a mad house tomorrow, too. I'll root for the Packers because of the old man at the helm. I like to see old jocks succeed.
