Re: Now that is a macro lensIf they really want to probe, they should get one of those cameras that are used in urology. I guess that would be expensive.

Re: Now that is a macro lensVery cool stuff. If I found that beetle in the house I'd kill it, but in the video I felt sorry for it. Talk about teamwork!

I felt the same way when I viewed it.
Re: Now that is a macro lensHere is a more in depth review of the lens.

Re: Now that is a macro lensAt close to $1500 USD , that's not going to be a member of my lens collection. You do get a much wider view and, at f/12 to f/40, you do get a larger depth of field. But, even so, the area of sharp focus is razor thin. I'll stick with my regular macro lenses, Thank You.
You can get borescopes and endoscopes with built-in LED lights relatively inexpensively. They don't have camera attachments, but are instead designed to work with an app on a computer or smartphone to view and capture images. Typically, they are SD or HD not aps-c or full frame. But, if you need to poke into a wall, tube, or bottle for some reason they work relatively well. For still photos, you can increase the depth of field by a process called focus stacking where you take lots of photos, each with a different focus point and combine using just the sharp areas from each. Photoshop supports focus stacking. In addition, there are apps that let you remotely control your DSLR and automatically adjust the focus steps. I've just downloaded an app called Helicon Remote that I wanted to test for remote tethering to my tablet that also automates taking the photos for focus stacking. I was more interested in the tethering functionality, but, when I get time I'd like to play with the focus stacking too. There are other apps too.

Re: Now that is a macro lensThat beats out what I have...... but I wonder if you could make something similar on the DIY side. The biggest difference to me is that you are away from the subject and the lens is small that you could get it into some pretty tiny places. How cool would a DIY microscope attachment be.... hummmm gears churning.
