Lightroom CC question

Postby Ron Hunter » Fri Feb 19, 2016 12:27 pm

I recently copied my Lightroom (LR) catalog onto an external hard drive. I then connected the ext HDD to my Macbook Pro laptop, opened LR, and opened that catalog.

Now I see an exclamation mark in the upper right corner of the photo icons that looks like this:

I don't understand what is going on, and I don't want to overwrite something that could end up being a previous edit. Can someone explain this to me?

That looks like a good question for the Lightroom forum.

I have Lightroom CC, but I've never encountered that message -- not even when I moved the catalog from one volume to another. But, I haven't tried moving it to an external drive. How did you move the catalog and did you also move the photos and any sidecar files? Are you writing catalog changes to xmp in Lightroom?

Looks like you should probably try to compare a selected file's metadata to that in the Lightroom Catalog and see what's different.

If they come up with an answer in the Lightroom forum, could you post a link to it here or tell us what the problem was.
