Re: Win 10 Sharing PWs?Here's a much more balanced article about the Wi-Fi Sense feature. Or, even better, read this Microsoft Wi-Fi Sense FAQ.
It's not as bad as it sounds. It only works with devices running Windows 10. The device has to be physically close enough to connect to your Wi-Fi access point. It only gives access to the Internet through your Wi-Fi connection -- "network discovery" is turned off so they won't see your files or other networked devices. The actual password is not passed around or disclosed to the "guest". You have to sign on to the Wi-Fi network using the actual password in order to be able to share it and you can opt not to share. And, it does not bypass the other controls you set in your Wi-Fi access point; I have my access point set to require the mac id of the device to be pre-authorized -- if they aren't in the access list, they don't get in. Adding "_optout" to the end of your access point's ssid will prevent you or anyone knowing your actual password from sharing the Wi-Fi network.
Re: Win 10 Sharing PWs?Thanks much for yet another detailed explanation, Bob.
