In his detailed review of the Panasonic GH4 Dave Dugdale extolls the benefits of shooting in 4k and then down converting to 1080p. He provided video clips that show how digital noise and moire were dramatically reduced by doing this.
I know 4k is a new frontier and many people (myself included) haven't taken the plunge, but has anyone tried this yet? I see that the GoPro Hero3 Black can shoot in 4k (15fps?)
The comparison shots Dave provided of the 5DMarkIII vs the GH4 were amazing; the added detail in the GH4 videos needs to be seen to be believed. I am not a pro and I don't have a 4k TV but the idea of shooting in 4k and down converting to 1080p for the increased level of detail is very interesting. Everyone can appreciate more detailed images, right?
