Re: Field MonitorsI've done it again. I've filmed a once in a blue moon, perhaps lifetime, event and because I can't see my video monitor clearly enough, managed to mess it up royally. It looked like everything was in focus... after all, the camcorder was in auto focus. ha! I was too close to focus, but it sure didn't look that way at the time.
So... has anyone ever used a filed monitor? What are your thoughts? I thought the model with Focus Peaking sounded fabulous until I noticed in the Lilliput 7 video that the red color shows up at the points of greatest contrast. Not specifically if focus has been achieved. There are some other vids out there that do make it look like the red shows up more strongly when focus has been achieved. Perhaps it is a matter of experience reading the screen. Lenovo W70l; 1.6 GHz, i7 quad core, Win 7, 64 bit, 16 gigs DDR-3 RAM; NVIDIA Quadro FX 2800; Two 1T 7200 internal drives; BluRay burner
Re: Field MonitorsI thought about getting one of these, but you are still depending on a small screen to get focus. Out in direct sunlight the screens can't be seen. A loupe would help viewing the screen, but if using the screen you would still need to zoom in to set focus. That is why I use the AF on the photo mode and then switch the lens to MF and lastly turn the Movie dial.
