How do you do this? How do you time lapse camera movements? Do you move the camera little bit to the right or left every second?

I was wondering the same thing. I could see a pan being done with a clock movement (kind of like they use for telescopes in astronomy), but those scenes where the camera was moving down a street or sidewalk amazed me.

Here is a chat with him on a Blog. Wheels, tracks, setting up the shot. I've read a few things he wrote on FB about scouting out the locations and planning, planning, planning. He was also interviewed at Sundance Festival. I would love to see the set up in action.
